A religious community, like any family, has to provide for the daily needs of its members. We gladly support one another when health and age are particular challenges. The sisters share in the ordinary household tasks of cooking, cleaning, shopping, laundry, and the general maintenance of the monastery. Our lovely grounds and gardens, cared for with such love, produce touches of beauty everywhere we look. Each day as we are engaged in our routine household work, we remember all those around the world who provide food and shelter and comfort for others by the work of their hands. Our construction and renovation projects have symbolized for us the importance that shared responsibility has in building both physical and spiritual structures. We join our manual labor around the monastery to the spiritual work of building communities of love and care for one another around the world.
